Finding Your Power

About Me

Finding Your Power

Life as a busy parent can feel overwhelming. Between running kids to school and soothing colds throughout the night, it can be hard to focus on yourself and find your inner power to move forward. A few years ago, I started feeling beaten-down and depressed. To work out my problems, I decided to try counseling. I was absolutely amazed with the difference it made in my life. After I had the opportunity to talk with someone, I learned ways to cope with my daily routine. The goal of my website is to help other people to understand that there is a great life out there, and that counseling can help you to find your way.

Wacky Questions That Will Help You Understand Your Spouse

The decision to get married is a serious one. Marriage means combining the two different lives of two different people. For better or for worse, you and your spouse will have to overcome your differences and operate as one united front against anything that will come your way. Understanding the intricacies of one another is a must prior to getting married. Marriage counseling (such as is offered by My Marriage First) is one of the keys to making the foundation of a marriage stronger. Though marriage is serious, all of the counseling does not have to be. Here are some wacky questions that will actually help you get to know one another more before married.

If you had to pick one celebrity to marry me instead of you, who would you pick?

Picking a celebrity for yourself is fairly easily. Picking a celebrity for your future intended can be a little harder. As a couple, coming together and "selecting" a different spouse for one another will give you both a keen sense of how the other person views you and your needs. If your spouse picks Russell Brand for you, you know that the see the need for off the wall fun and adventure in your life. If your spouse picks Naomi Campbell as an ideal for you, you know that see your need for beauty and to be kept on your toes in a relationship.

If we could trade lives/bodies for one day, what would you do?

Improving your life should be the number one goal of your spouse in a relationship. Ask one another what you would do if you could change bodies and live one another's lives for a day. Some may say they would slap your boss while others would say they would take your body skydiving. Whatever the answer, the actions will give an idea on what your spouse would like to "fix" for you. This can lead to warm feelings as well as a talk about how you can actually go about fixing issues for one another, with no body snatching involved.

Describe your ideal fairytale for the two of us.

Though knights on horses saving maidens may not exist any longer, a wonderful fairytale never dies. Everyone has daydreams about many things that go on in their life. Have each of you describe the ideal fairytale that you hold for the relationship, no matter how out there or colorful it is. Understanding one another's fairytales will give you a sense on the true happily ever after that is lusted after by one another. Though the horse and the title of knight may not be possible, all can be for the two of you.
