Finding Your Power

About Me

Finding Your Power

Life as a busy parent can feel overwhelming. Between running kids to school and soothing colds throughout the night, it can be hard to focus on yourself and find your inner power to move forward. A few years ago, I started feeling beaten-down and depressed. To work out my problems, I decided to try counseling. I was absolutely amazed with the difference it made in my life. After I had the opportunity to talk with someone, I learned ways to cope with my daily routine. The goal of my website is to help other people to understand that there is a great life out there, and that counseling can help you to find your way.

Putting Romance Back Into Your Relationship

If you are fighting with your partner more and more, and you spend less time doing things you both enjoy, romance is probably nonexistent. When your relationship gets to the point that there is no together time, bad feelings between parties can escalate quickly, making it even harder to remedy the distance between each other. Here are a few ways to put romance back into your relationship.

Consider Couples Counseling

Talking with someone with an unbiased opinion can make a huge difference in the way you handle everyday problems in your relationship. Going to therapy as a couple can be an eye-opener to both parties. The counselor will be able to help you find parts of your relationship that need fixing so you can work on them as a team.

Many counselors will give couples simple tasks to fulfill in between counseling sessions, giving you both a chance to work together. For example, your counselor may ask you to work together to put together a small picture album of happy memories together. This type of task will increase communication and intimacy between each other while working toward a solution.

Take A Vacation

Sometimes spending time away from home can do wonders for a relationship. Partners are unable to retreat to separate rooms if they are staying in smaller quarters as hotels, or even tents, will offer. Activities you normally do at home are not accessible, making it necessary to speak with each other so you do not become bored.

Schedule a few activities where you will need to work together to have a good time, such as playing miniature golf, going to a fun park, or simply eating dinner at a fine restaurant. The excitement felt when packing a bag for a trip to a new place can help boost your spirits, helping you to want to share the feeling with your partner. Going to a special place you had both traveled to in the past can also help you reminisce, allowing romance to sneak back into your lives.

Start A New Hobby

Sign up for a class or buy equipment to use to try a new activity together. Beginning a new hobby that neither one of you have earlier experience with, can be a fun way to learn a new skill together. You can laugh together while learning the proper way to catch a fish, paint a picture, roller skate without falling or shoot a rifle.

Pick an activity that both of you find interesting. Read a few books on the subject and find a class or take it upon yourselves to learn the fundamentals needed to excel in the field. If both parties have interest in the subject, this is a great way to bond. (For more information, you can contact Drake Counseling Services)
