Finding Your Power

Life as a busy parent can feel overwhelming. Between running kids to school and soothing colds throughout the night, it can be hard to focus on yourself and find your inner power to move forward. A few years ago, I started feeling beaten-down and depressed. To work out my problems, I decided to try counseling. I was absolutely amazed with the difference it made in my life. After I had the opportunity to talk with someone, I learned ways to cope with my daily routine. The goal of my website is to help other people to understand that there is a great life out there, and that counseling can help you to find your way.

Signs That It Might Be Time For An ADHD Evaluation

If you have started to wonder if you or a loved one has ADHD, you might consider going through some ADHD evaluations. To help you make that decide if this is necessary for you, read through the following information.

Excessive Amount Of Talking

You will want to take a minute to really think about how often you talk and how fast your speech is when you are talking with someone. Is the person you are talking with able to get to say as much as you? If you seem to talk a lot, speak really fast, and dominate most conversations that you are in, you might have ADHD. If you are having trouble figuring this out on our own, you will want to consult with family or some close friends who know you well. Get their input and write down any key points that they make so you can share them with your doctor.

Overly Disorganized

Whether it is at work or at home, if you find that you are very disorganized and this is generally how it always is for you, it might be a sign of ADHD. Of course, simply being disorganized does not mean that you have ADHD. But if you have this symptom along with a few others, then it might be time to talk with a professional about being evaluated for the condition.

Increasing Forgetfulness

If you find that you are very talkative, disorganized, and you are very forgetful, then you will certainly want to talk with someone about the possibility of you having ADHD. With ADHD, you might find it hard to keep some of your thoughts organized, causing you to easily forget. This could lead to problems at home and at work. If you end up diagnosed with ADHD, your counselor or doctor can work with you on methods for helping you to improve your memory.

With the previously mentioned signs in mind, you should have a much easier time determining whether you or your loved one needs to be seen by a professional for an ADHD evaluation. The sooner you get the evaluation, the sooner a team of professionals in the mental health department can begin to develop the ideal treatment plan for you. This may include therapy and medication. The sooner your treatment plan is started, the sooner you should be able to start to see some real results in your life.
