Finding Your Power

About Me

Finding Your Power

Life as a busy parent can feel overwhelming. Between running kids to school and soothing colds throughout the night, it can be hard to focus on yourself and find your inner power to move forward. A few years ago, I started feeling beaten-down and depressed. To work out my problems, I decided to try counseling. I was absolutely amazed with the difference it made in my life. After I had the opportunity to talk with someone, I learned ways to cope with my daily routine. The goal of my website is to help other people to understand that there is a great life out there, and that counseling can help you to find your way.

Why You Might Want To Seek Out Therapy Or Counseling Services

Every adult has issues or problems they have to deal with on a daily basis, and troubleshooting your problems is just a part of life. But sometimes those issues or problems can seem to keep going in the wrong direction or just feel too overwhelming. If you ever reach this point, it might be helpful to talk to someone about what's going on. Here's why it might be the right time to reach out to a professional therapist that offers adult counseling services.

It Can Be Easier to Talk to a Stranger Than to Your Family or Friends

Saying you need to see a therapist does not imply that you don't have any other support. Lots of adults have a wide social circle including many family and friends. But when it comes to dealing with problems, sometimes your family or friends aren't the best to seek out for advice. One potential issue could be if part of your problem is related to your family or your friends or significant other. Chances are high that this group of people probably know each other and they might know the person you are talking about, which can make it awkward or difficult to get advice.

Another issue with talking to family or friends is that they might try to solve your problem by giving you an example of how they personally overcame a similar issue. But you don't want to take the focus off yourself during this time. Every person is different and you need to find out what works for you, not what someone else did.

A therapist or professional counselor will never judge you. He or she can offer clear advice based on years of research and expertise and not just a personal anecdote.

Sometimes Just Getting It Out is Enough to Turn Things Around

If, on the other hand, you feel like you don't have anyone in your life you want to talk to about your problems, no family or friends who would even try to understand, then a professional therapist can serve as the sounding board that you need. Sometimes we keep things bottled up inside and it can be helpful to just get it out and tell another human being what's gong on. After you talk about the problem out loud, you may no longer feel like it's such a big deal and your stress levels will go down.
