Finding Your Power

About Me

Finding Your Power

Life as a busy parent can feel overwhelming. Between running kids to school and soothing colds throughout the night, it can be hard to focus on yourself and find your inner power to move forward. A few years ago, I started feeling beaten-down and depressed. To work out my problems, I decided to try counseling. I was absolutely amazed with the difference it made in my life. After I had the opportunity to talk with someone, I learned ways to cope with my daily routine. The goal of my website is to help other people to understand that there is a great life out there, and that counseling can help you to find your way.

6 Types Therapy For Anxiety Relief

Most individuals will experience anxiety at some point in their lives. Many of these individuals do not have anxiety regularly. This is why they can dismiss anxiety as being nervous about an event or situation. However, there are countless individuals who experience anxiety daily and several times a day. It can negatively impact their social life, appetite, physical health, and mental health. Therapy can help individuals cope with anxiety. Today, there are several options available to individuals who suffer from anxiety. The following points explain modern-day therapy options.

One-on-One Therapy

This is likely the type of therapy that is familiar to most individuals. It involves private sessions with a therapist. The sessions involve life updates and problem-solving strategies. Therapists may also coach their patients and teach them how to handle stressful situations.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a wonderful psychological tool that can be used to help anxiety sufferers. Therapists direct their patients to focus on their feelings of panic while under hypnosis. They help them to cope with stressful situations while hypnotized. When the patients awake, the therapy sessions can be effective in real-life situations.

Group Therapy

Some individuals do well in group settings. It can help to discuss anxiety issues with other individuals who have similar issues. This can create a sense of camaraderie that helps patients to see that they are not alone in their uncomfortable feelings. Sometimes family members and friends may not understand anxiety and how it can impact everyday life. Group settings are usually private and confidential.

Online Therapy

As technology advances, many people are seeking online therapy solutions. These can be held one-on-one or via an online software that permits multiple individuals to participate in a group chat. Attendees in group sessions are usually given a unique link that is only available by invitation.

Exposure Therapy

Individuals who have fears about specific things or situations are encouraged to face their fears in exposure therapy. The goal is to get patients to experience less panic when faced with their phobias.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy

This type of therapy involves using cognitive abilities to challenge negative thoughts that evoke anxiety. Individuals are trained to identify what is causing their negative thoughts and anxiety. Their sessions involve teaching themselves to think realistically and optimistically about a situation. The goal is to change one's perception and reduce or eliminate anxious thought patterns.

Intense anxiety that seems relentless can significantly impair an individual's ability to enjoy life. Anxiety is often a co-occurring disorder with depression. Anxiety and depression therapy can be treated together. If medications are needed, there are medications that can treat both conditions, which can eliminate the need to take multiple medications.
