Finding Your Power

About Me

Finding Your Power

Life as a busy parent can feel overwhelming. Between running kids to school and soothing colds throughout the night, it can be hard to focus on yourself and find your inner power to move forward. A few years ago, I started feeling beaten-down and depressed. To work out my problems, I decided to try counseling. I was absolutely amazed with the difference it made in my life. After I had the opportunity to talk with someone, I learned ways to cope with my daily routine. The goal of my website is to help other people to understand that there is a great life out there, and that counseling can help you to find your way.

Child Welfare Donations: Three Ways You Can Help

For many children, a safe and secure home environment may not be their reality. Though youth welfare workers work tirelessly to help these children be as comfortable as possible during a time of transition, donations are always welcome and help them commit further to their cause. Continue reading to learn about three types of youth welfare donations

Monetary Donations

Without monetary donations, child welfare services would suffer. Through a monetary contribution of your choosing, you can offset the costs associated with administrative fees, provide assistance in research as well as help give directly to children in need. Contact the program you are interested in donating to and ask for a breakdown of where contributions go and which percentage helps children in need. While some may be fine donating to those whose contribution would help cover administrative costs, for instance, others may not. Monetary donations can easily be made online, over the phone, or in-person and can also be set up to be recurring for those who would live to give on a regular basis.

The Essentials

Many programs help provide children with food, shelter, and foster care assistance and will usually welcome donations that will help them run efficiently. Essentials such as non-perishable foods, gently used clothing, hygiene supplies, and clean underwear and socks can make a world of difference in a child's life. While these items may seem very basic, a child in need will find great comfort in being able to feel clean and ready to face the day. Luggage and backpacks are also extremely helpful donations that will be needed, especially for children moving from one location to another. Be sure to contact your program's location ahead of time to ask what supplies are in most demand and which are allowed.

Recreation Supplies

While children are residing in a foster situation or a location outside of their home, recreation supplies may be a welcome respite. Again, be sure to contact the program of your choosing to see which recreation supplies are needed so you can have a better idea of how to best give. Sporting equipment such as soccer balls, footballs, floor mats, and stepping stones would bring a world of fun for children who could use some cheering up on a hard day. Likewise, arts and crafts supplies such as glue, paint, construction paper, and pipe cleaners can help foster a child's imagination and allow them to build critical fine motor skills as well.
